How will consumers pay for it and to whom if this is not via their telcos data plans? Will sankhya launch B2C plans and do they have licence for same or will join auctions?

As per this news, its a D-to-M or direct to mobile concept. Basically they will allow mobile manufacturers to embed a chip into handsets for accessing broadcast radio head developed by the company.

Basically what I understand is they will sell this to handset manufacturer to be inbuilt into phones.

Until they disclose more, nothing is given out.

As it includes data usage via 5G i think nothing maybe possible without government regulations…some companies spending crores in auction and another able to make use of similar tech (be it sankhya or handset makers etc) without shelling out anything to government may not be feasible until gov pitches in when this tech becomes viable…

Here is the whitepaper on D2M Broadcast if anyone’s interested. POC was done by IITK and Saankhya labs.

Prasar Bharti being the focus here ( public broadcaster), I dug into 3 years old annual report of Prasar Bharti and this is what I find. This at least tells that it’s not one sided affair.

With the Government’s revival package to BSNL and tough talk by the Minister, hopefully BSNL will move fast on the roll out of 4G with Indian equipment providers. Positive development for Tejas which is now part of the Tata group.

Disc: Invested. Highest holding in our portfolio
