Quarterly numbers have been impacted by writing off 276 crore invested in Rahul yadav’s 4B networks.Shows the risk element of investing in Infoedge. However it’s expected as its nature of their investment(bet on few promising startups ,hoping one of them would grow really big)
Zomato & Policy Bazaar returns for them have been phenomenal. I think another important message Infoedge Management is giving to all its 30 plus startups by doing this write off in q3 , if they squander money or deviate from vision , they will be written off. So all the startups will have to work smartly.
Road to becoming a $100 bn co? What reaffirms Sanjeev Bikhchandani’s faith? Will he cut stake in Zomato ?
I have high regard to Sanjeev Bikhchandani, wondering how infoedge miss judge this. This seems series of mistakes by infoedge. Hope they will take a lession.
Interesting read… It seems we retail investor do good diligence than so called VC.
Does anyone have any insights on how Info Edge’s later bets (startup investments from balance sheet before the formation of the AIF) are faring?
Hi,
An honest question about the longevity of Naukri.com?
With the advent of AI tools, and other websites such as linkedin, etc. the monopoly that Naukri enjoys - isn’t it fading away? And the valuation for Infoedge just for Naukri as cash cow - trading at a pe of 130 (cant really judge these companies based on PE) but still…
Isn’t it too much of a risk, with a lot to lose at this point of time?
Disclosure: Not invested.
Naukri has 70 % market share in recruitment databases. They sell Databases to recruiters annual license. That business will always be there inspite of AI & any competition. Our population needs a Resume. Naukri over the years has made sevaral acquistions in recruitment space ( IIM jobs etc ) , they are covering entire spectrum and know how to monetize. Cashflow is increasing year on year . I think reverse will happen - except Linkeden all other small competiton will collapse or Naukri will have a product in that space or they acquire.
Interesting, thanks for the response.
Yes, Linked in is the main competitor and it has one unique advantage against Naukri, which is whether some one is actually what he claims to be. You can validate where he worked, Testimonials of his Peers / Colleagues..etc can gauge the candidate.
As a recruiter, i can say Naukri’s biggest competition is Linked In, it is very easy for a recruiter to recruit from LinkedIn as compared to say Naukri. Having said that we still use both Naukri & Linked In for recruitment.
