While we have discussed the prospects of Indian defence product companies taking advantage of the defence buildup in Europe, tension between India and Pakistan has suddenly woken us to an immediate danger of a war on our borders also. The New York Times headline has rightly or wrongly, again drawn our attention to the defence preparedness.
From the World Wars to the wars fought by us, one lesson is clear. Defence production goes into an overdrive when the danger looms.
As a layman I can’t really put my finger on which sub-sector may be more active, but Solar and other companies in the explosives, Zen Technology in drones, BEL and many others may be required to step up their production.

Of course, the infrastructure development on the India-China border has shown that many other sectors, not directly associated in our mind with defence may also be involved.
Disclaimer: I am invested in Zen Technology, Dcxsystems, Krishna Defence, and Astra Micro. Nothing in the above post is to be construed as a recommendation.
With recent tensions with neighbouring countries, India will look at increasing the defense spending to ensure enough artillery to safeguard Indians…Good time to increase the allocation towards this sector.
