Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for 240 AL-31FP Aero Engines for Su-30MKI aircraft at a cost of over Rs 26,000 crore.
As of March 2024, the order book of HAL stood at Rs 94000 Crore. In sept ,2024, it had received Rs 26000 crore order for 240 Jet Engines for SU30 MKI to be made at HAL koraput, odisha.
Now , 12 fighter jets SU30 MKI to be made at its Nasik plant value at Rs 13,500 crore.
This makes a total order book of Rs 1,34,000 crore as of 12 Dec , 2024, which works out to next 5 years revenue approx .
As per UBS, HAL is expected to get another 60,000 crorr order in 4th quarter.
HAL will showcase its indigenous products and technologies centred on the theme ‘Innovate. Collaborate. Lead’ at Today’s Aero India 2025 Event
Actually the Air Force Chief said much more and the response of HAL Chief sounded lame:
:One of the biggest purchases this financial year.
:Indian defence officials have previously said that nations in Africa, South East Asia and Latin America have shown interest in buying Helicopter ‘Prachand’ from India.
Positive for HAL.
GE engines for LCA MK1A fighter jets - have started being received with a timed delivery schedule of rest 10 engines as well. Operational Execution and Supply Chain continue to remain key as GE promises to deliver 24 Engines annually from FY26
Indian government working towards a ₹67,000 crore contract to HAL for 97 additional LCA Mk-1A fighter jets.
More importantly - A high-level defence ministry committee is working on the procurement process to slash acquisition timelines, from an average of 7-8 years to under 2 years - now that if it lands will be a potential game changer for HAL as well as for many other players too that are in the Defense Industry
**DEFENSE STOCKS, HAL **
Govt has cleared a deal worth approx Rs 62,000 cr to acquire 97 Tejas Mk1A fighter jets for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
This is the second major order for the Tejas Mk1A. An earlier order for 83 jets was placed for around ₹48,000 crore.
With this new order, the total number of Tejas Mk1A jets on order for the IAF will reach 180.
The new jets are intended to replace the IAF’s aging fleet of MiG-21s, which are being phased out. Deliveries for the 97 jets are expected to begin around 2028 and conclude by 2031.
The Tejas Mk1A jets have over 65% indigenous content, aligning with the “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.
Everyone jumping on the orders bandwagon please remember there are no engines. This is because there is a consistent delay from side of GE to deliver the F Series engines. Considering the latest freeze in Indo-US relations it would be extremely tough to analyse whether this is deliberate or due to supply chain issues that GE itself is dealing with.
Unless HAL delivers an working jet, they don’t get paid.
