Bharti Airtel - What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

Nice detailed writeup. Is there any soecific reason that there is no mention of satellite business at all anywhere? They had acquired a satellite business (Oneweb if I am not wrong). How do you see growth and importance of Satellite business going ahead?

Bharti Enterprises, the parent company of Bharti Airtel, is a major shareholder in OneWeb. OneWeb is not a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel.

As @StonePitbull has mentioned Airtel Enterprises has stake in Oneweb. However, if we go through Airtel’s Annual report we can see that Airtel has a subsidiary Oneweb India Telecommunications Pvt Ltd. Airtel has made a disclosure some time back as well. I think the India operations of oneweb may be through this subsidiary. However, the satellite communication may have its applications only in unconnected areas due to its initial setup costs and much larger subscription costs in comparison to broadband. I have just added the Starlink costs in Canada in the previous post.

Bharti Airtel | Singtel Stake Sale

a. Singtel to sell shares under capital recycling program
b. Proceeds likely for balance sheet strengthening & shareholder rewards
c. Singtel board to decide on stake sale later this week
d. Earlier sold 0.8% stake to GQG via block deal (March 2024)
e. Net debt as of Sept 30: $7.8B

Any idea on how Starlink collaboration impacts the business positively or negatively ?

NXTRA Vizag Limited will see data center business now a step-down subsidiary of Airtel.

I’m not even mad at Jio or Airtel at this point; they’re simply playing the game they were allowed to play. But we should redirect some of our usual big outrage to this core issue: when an essential utility is controlled by just two players, this kind of systematic price increase is the natural, inevitable endgame. We Need VI & BSNL Stronger

I’m worried about this NBFC gambit on Airtel Money and cautious about this asset-heavy shift. Lending requires huge capital and comes with credit risks (bad loans).

This puts them in direct war with heavyweights of Jio Fin. and Bajaj Fin.
