The Story of My Portfolio and Me Over the Years!

Starting this blog, where

1.) I shall talk about my current portfolio mix. And my reasoning behind the composition?
2.) Which all stocks constitutes the portfolio?
3.) What is my investment thesis behind it and how is the business evolving with time.

I hope I remain consistent with this blog and keep updating it with the actions I am taking.

Note :- This blogpost is more sort of a reflection on the personal front, where I build a habit of writing my thoughts and thesis behind my investment. It shall never be taken in form of Stock Recommendation or anything. Please do your due diligence on your own.

Like many, I too started my investment journey in 2020. Thanks to all the extra time I had during COVID where I realised I need to put my money to work. Before this I had abysmal savings and I shall end up spending almost everything I would earn.

As of Feb-25,

This is how my Portfolio Looks Like ( On the invested Value).

1.) Bitcoin - 15% ( Investing since Early 2023)
2.) US Stocks - 20% ( Investing since 2021)
3.) Indian Equity - 65% ( Investing since 2020)

On the Current Market Value as of 9th Feb’25
1.) Bitcoin is 22%
2.) US market is 23%
3.) Indian Equity is 55% ( This has come down because recent market corrections)

Other than this I have some GOLD + Cash Savings but that is not something I track in my portfolio, as a percentage of my net-worth.

Investment Thesis
Portfolio Mix - As you could see that I well diversified w.r.t risk b/w India, US and Bitcoin.

Why Bitcoin? - Well I first got to know about BTC in college days around 2014 but never paid heed to it even when I had the opportunity, I wish I had during that time :-p, but only started reading about it seriously in 2022 after interacting with my Cousin. My Conviction is built on few key points :-

1.) More than the asset class it is an IDEA. And Ideas live and generally don’t die - think feminism, socialism etc. Bitcoin here represents an idea - that is anti-fed ( anti-stupidity) , inflation proof, purely decentralized. And with time strong ideas only become stronger. And perhaps the reason why today we have Bitcoin ETFs and firms Black-Rock, Vanguard has embraced it.

2.) Bitcoin shall have a longer shelf live than most companies out there, hence a longer compounder.

3.) A perfect hedge which is truly international, that puts you out of Gov’s control.

Why US Stocks

I don’t actively spend time looking for opportunities in the US Stock Market. But I have in my portfolio the usual suspects - Apple, MSFT, Meta, Alphabet, TSLA and one random purchase - PLTR.

The reason to put money in US Market was two fold

1.) Indian Rupee is only gonna become weaker and not stronger, at 3-5% p.a. Which is almost a guaranteed upside!
2.) The companies I have in my portfolios are true monopolies ( even though they may hate to admit it), except - TSLA, PLTR. They in some sense control the world market and us all.
3.) By virtue of the high FCO and heavy R&D budgets I believe they next set of technology/product shall come from them and hence unlocking further upside.

I don’t look at earnings growth etc in these companies, and just want to hold on to them for as long as possible, for the above mentioned reasons.

TSLA and PLTR happen to be an impulse buy at some point.

Current Composition of US stocks ( Invested Value in US equities)

1.) MSFT - 27%
2.) APPLE - 19%
3.) META -18%
4.) TSLA - 18%
5.) GOOGL - 10%
6.) PLTR - 6%

Among this all, PLTR surprisingly has given me the highest return of 7x already( <2years) but sadly my investment in it was too low. And now the PE ratio is on the sky to invest more. I shall continue to ride it for as long as the AI theme is prevalent. Though I don’t understand PLTR much, hence it was the reason why I choose to put very small sum in it.
