Sector Based Investing FY25 : Learnings from Value Picker: Need feedback

Hi Everyone,
As a new member of this forum, I am pleased to share that my experience so far has been extremely educational. Although I have been involved in the stock market for a considerable time, I still consider myself a novice in value investing. Prior to joining this forum, my investments were primarily in large-cap stocks without conducting any thorough research. However, my perspective has significantly shifted since becoming acquainted with this community. It is an intriguing space with a wealth of knowledge to be gained. As this will be my first venture into value investing, I seek your guidance and advice on my approach.
Based on my learnings thus far, I have undertaken the following steps:

  • Reviewed the FY 25 budget to understand governmental spending plans.
  • Conducted additional research to identify sectors with long-term growth potential.
  • Acquired insights from this forum and Tijori regarding other investors’ strategies and motivations.
  • Selected 10 sectors and identified several stocks within each sector.
I would appreciate feedback on the following areas before I proceed with deploying my funds in the market:
  • Are my sector selections appropriate? Is there a need to adjust the number of sectors?
  • What is the optimal strategy for fund allocation across these sectors? Any advice or direction to existing resources within this forum or externally on fund allocation strategies would be highly valuable.
  • How should I narrow down the number of stocks? My current list consists of approximately 30 stocks, which I believe is excessive. I would welcome any advice on how to reduce the number of stock picks.
  • When I have additional funds to allocate, should I continue investing in the selected stocks, or should I seek new stocks for reinvestment?
Thank you for your assistance and guidance.

Can you provide a line each for the thesis and anti thesis?
That will reinforce your conviction and also help other members to understand the points.

Let me give it a shot

You have chosen strong stocks with good long-term growth potential

Ganesh housing has been the star stock of its sector but even in this fall it’s p/b was above 5.
Dixon again good company but valuation is what scares me.
