Now that Trump has given a pause of 90 days on the tariffs and lowered it for all other countries except China, and it is abundantly clear that this wasn’t some larger than life, conspiracy theory-esque way of changing the global order in one day, I want to call out the behaviour that Sahil demonstrated on this thread earlier.

While the language that a few of the members used could have been better phrased, the attitude that was demonstrated by Sahil was not acceptable either. The way he called all of us ‘news-readers’ shows a certain amount of contempt which isn’t healthy for constructive dialogue. Showing other people down on the basis of your assumptions on how the world is working-which there is no proof to- is downright arrogant and extremely bad in taste.

Hi Devesh ji, I say this with sincere respect, so please don’t take it the wrong way. I’m not looking to argue—just responding in good faith, as the last line of your post called for members to share their views.

A couple of points regarding your post:-

1. “The way he called all of us ‘news-readers’” - I don’t believe he took specific names or explicitly referred to everyone as such. So to say it discouraged thousands of youngsters on this platform may not be entirely accurate—at least not till proven otherwise.

2. “Now that Trump has given a pause of 90 days on the tariffs” – If we disagree with someone’s comments on the forum and wish to raise a concern, should raising that concern depend on our perception of whether they were right or wrong? For instance, if there had been no 90-day pause, would this post still have been made? The starting line of the post doesn’t make it seem so.

Given these points, I’m unable to agree with the intent and premise of this post and don’t feel there’s a need to report Sahil’s posts.

Trump is finally getting some sane advise from his team it seems as envisaged earlier.

A 90 days pause (if it stays) will pave the way for better negotiations. Its just a pause and not a repeal of the tariffs. This could be a win scenario for India if the Chinese keep retaliating Trump ego.

We need to be matured to move on from smaller things. They are noise. The objective should be to filter them and look for valuable information which helps in our own decision making rather than finger pointing others.

And is basing a counterargument on a single, isolated event considered “scientific”?

While I appreciate your concern for the “young” members, I would like you to self reflect on your post and find the contempt you have shown.
Rallying others to back your personal agenda is nothing but thinly veiled activism better suited for labour unions than on the Valuepickr platform.

A good analysis. Quite insightful.

The intent at Trump’s end is quite visible. This is a long drawn process and Trump has just 4 years of tenure left. Post that we do not know who would come and what would their priorities be and would they be able to handle the uncertainty and pain in the process.

The prognosis for India seems to be quite poor. India is at a cusp where it needs a big market like US to provide employment for its workforce. US shutting the door may spell doom for India

6 months ago predicted. And has come to fruition. Pharma tariffs are here and this is the new world order. America will manufacture in america & the world will need to find another buyer for its things than the debt laden over extended American consumers

The fundamental reasons for this changing world order are not appreciated enough. Bottom 50% Americans are bleeding & paining.

They don’t own equity
They are drowning in debt
They are living a decade lower than top 10%
They consume less. Top 10% consume 50% of all consumption in america. Top 1% have enough wealth to own 99% of homes in america. Even right now, the long term trend is for Blackstone to own all low income homes (so even low income homes are not for low income people)

Everything on track on the thesis of dedollarization & an america centric deglobalization (rest of world can globalize)

Btw do not count much on united kingdom it’s going to become worse than 3rd world country on every metric a human cares about. UK is being forced by america to buy their worthless debts despite itself being very levered. Gold emptied from London vaults. I’m saying this explicitly because a lot of investors might start to think that europe can fill the role of America. Europe has problems of its own and needs to be analysed country to country basis. France isnt looking good either.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat is thw Way to go. On this Modiji has been true exceptionally generationally visionary starting this impetus a decade ago & now is the time for every single bharatiya nagarik to build in Bharat & spend their hard earned money on bharatiya brands (this is the reason I bought Mahindra & mahindra car not any kias or skodas)

The only way Bharat comes out of this global reset relatively unscathed is if bharatiya nagarik develop some pride in owning & supporting bharatiya brands while constantly urging them to meet & exceed global standards.

Can the pharma cos continue to outsource research, discovery, development etc. via CRP/CDMO cos outside US and just package/label the final medicine/formulation. Do you think this is a possibility bcos it may not make financial/economic sense for Pharma cos to do all the things Trump wants them to do in US, but they agree to do it bcos Trump is putting a gun on their heads.

Bhai please remove your political inclinations from your investing viewpoint. We going away from America means getting more embedded with China. This Make in India will just mean more Chinese imports getting stamped as Made in India post assembly. Atmanirbhar is a gradual process and will take a few decades. Meanwhile we need to get back on better terms with USA while gradually removing our dependence on any foreign entity.

Gold: I expect Gold to do really well for next 3-5 years. After all gold is real money. Everything else is a promise of money. AMerican $ is worth less if america cannot produce enough goods for you to buy and/or if america prints too many $ to devalue the $ that you hold. And you know that they need to print at least 160 trillion $ in next many decades at least (this number grows every year). Some people believe bitcoin will do well. I dont know. It has to register itself as sound money in order to be ‘digital gold’ as of now it is more like a ‘nasdaq clone’. I am also not 100% sure that push comes to shove can American security establishement get a back door entry into bitcoin? Id rather own gold. The money of last 5,000 years.
