i live in remote area of chhattisgarh where it gets difficult for me to check the ground report of company located in metro cities.
Some method i use to find about the company:

checking related players in google and try to call them
i tell them that i am an MBA student who is building project report on that particular industry. The n i try to find some details about the industry and the company i am looking to invest -
Try to locate employes on linkedin and try to get in touch with them
i have very little success with this method
Can you state how do you do your scuttlebutt?
and if you directly contact the company (which you are analyzing), how do you make them interested so that they reveal information to you?
