Fascinated with equities since my teens. Was making virtual portfolio and competing with my cousin for bragging rights, consuming every bit of biz news I could get my eyes on. Was applying for IPOs when I was in high school. After finishing my Engineering, got into a small startup! So didn’t have anything to invest until my onsite stint working for a larger software company which got me some monies to spare. Waited for the big pitch and swung it twice, in Oct 2008 and Mar 2009. Placed all my investibles in 6-7 companies in those 2 shots. The amount invested was commensurate with my meager savings then and so the outcome didn’t matter much except that the precise timing of my bets and the subsequent results convinced me that I was not just God’s gift to mankind but God himself. Fortunately the next few years convinced me I wasn’t anything of that sort with a bunch of “averaging down” candidates blowing my portfolio multiple times. Recovered from them but then came 2013-14, it was a bad phase for me personally… I felt I could no longer trust my instincts. Luckily, rebuilt my portfolio in 2014 with the shares discussed in this forum, the only regret being that I sold my Bajaj Finance and Eicher among others to finance these acquisitions. Gave up my software engineering career and moved back to my hometown. Last few years has been spent in me getting back to a fitter body as well as mind.

Quirks: Have changed my investment style multiple times over the years. Can spend half a decade with complete patience and then chop it all over in a moment! At times this has saved me from disaster but at other times, convinced me that someone just had to anti-clone my sell orders to become very rich. Poor with financial jargon. Prefer looking at the sector with tailwinds and then go through as many ARs, reports, online research as possible to get a general feel of the sector, competitors, management. Usually don’t hold more than 7-8 companies, mostly for more than 5 years. Now convinced to change my style and double the number of companies I hold.
