Started working as a software developer in 2007. First salary was Rs. 5000. Started SIP in MFs in India in 2008. Kept making more money, kept saving more by keeping the expenses budgeted & kept increasing my SIP. Moved to Australia in 2015 with a financial independence goal in mind. The move was simple, me & my wife could save ~3 times of what we could in India. Kept investing all the savings in MF via SIP till 2018. 10 year pre tax CAGR was ~19%. Sold off everything in Jan 2018 thinking market was too costly. Re-entered in March 2020. Couldn’t invest all. Sold off everything again in May 2021. started investing again this year. Luckily, by god’s grace, have come a long way in the financial independence journey. Today have quite a good corpus with no debt. Last year brought most of my corpus to Australia figuring out that AUD is the appreciating currency. Let’s see how this experiment unfolds.

Started direct stocks in March 2020. Without much study & with the illusion of understanding by reading books, have made a lot of mistakes in the last 2 years. Luckily none fatal. But as I am learning more n more from my mistakes & from others, everyday learning that I really don’t know anything. Still have no plans to leave the arena. Will keep taking the blows till I don’t find that consistent compunder in the early stage.
