Point & Figure Charting

Dinesh,

As said earlier, the stock broke 560 levels and made a new high of 582. That is why I always advocate buying of strong stocks on dips.

Dear Tony

Can you have a look at Lupin. Waiting for some more correction to make an entry.

Mallikarjun,

The short term indicators are showing a pull back. Will have to wait and watch. If CCI starts falling below 100 then you have a good chance of entering the stock. The stock has to fall below 886 from where it can touch 837 levels. Be patient and you will get an entry.

http://chartink.com/stocks/lupin.html

Watch for the stock to move into O columns. Presently it is in the X column indicating more buyers than sellers. For that to happen it will have to touch 840 levels as per Point and Figure charts. Then then next support level is at 800 and 740

The chart of NIRLON is used to explain how stocks break out when the CCI touches 100.

http://chartink.com/stocks/500307.html

On the charts one can see that on 5th July, 2013, the 5 day EMA cut the 25 day EMA from below. The CCI indicator touched the 100 mark (red line) from below and RSI touched 70 from below. The momentum indicator too moved from 0 to 12 as of today. See what happened to the stock price. Just in a span of 18 days the stock has moved from 35 to 48. A 37% jump.

This is just to explain what happens when a stock gathers momentum. Please use this example in all your purchases.

Disclosure: I own this stock and have repeatedly benefited from this type of analysis. The same analysis was applied in case of Ajanta Pharma.

Another good example of the above Momentum indicators is TITAN:

Here is the chart:

Thanku Tony  Can we find CCI automatically or do we need to check it manually for the stocksā€¦

( Its too good Tony. I can buy the strong stocks when CCI is in blue )

Hi Tony,

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your analysis on Cera and Accelya. Cera I am no more following.

I guess you heard me. You have posted how to look for various indicators and technical values for the entering points. This was the same question i was planning to post to you today.

I have observed you have timed you entries and exits on ajanta extremely well.

Also please for the benefit of every one, tell what are the technical indicators and values one should be looking for the exits.

what are your views on william %. Does it really capture the details well.

Hi Tony,

Can you please share the book.

Hi Tony,

Your thread is an awesome resource on Valuepickr. One of the must-visit threads for me. Based on the momentum indicators described above for Nirlon, what do you think of NMDC?

RSI -> just past 70 from below

CCI -> at 160

%R -> just entering over bought

Momentum -> down to 5.5 from 6.9

Everything is not aligned; hence wanted to see what you make of it.

Hi TONY,

Iā€™m new to ValuePickr as well as newbie in Investing world. Iā€™ve been tracking updateds on this forum from last 4Months.

I think there could be many more silent observers like me in this forum, who are very keen to read your valuable posts. Thank you very much for your guidance to the fellow valuepickrs.

I would appreciate it if you could send me a copy of the book to my

email:hashims999@gmail.com.

Earlier i tried to post my comments but later today realized that there are some bugs on this when we open it thru IE, hence now used Chrome.

Dear Tony

I assume Nirlon is a short term bet since their financial ratios are not healthyā€¦

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the book & your encouraging words.

Read your first few posts in this thread (page 1) am trying to relate it to the what am observing on Indusind charts. It gave a sell signal at 450 ? and today itā€™s almost down to 429 which is pretty close to BULLISH SUPPORT LINES (BLUE).

This means it could be a good entry point for the long term investors ?

Am sorry, if this is a repetitive question and you have already answered it in your subsequent posts. I am just trying to go step by step relating it with what i see.

Regards

Mallikarjun,

Nothing is automatic. One has to check it manually. You are perfectly right to say that one should buy strong stocks when the CCI is in negative territory and in blue. That is where one will get good bargains. Also watch the bullish percent sector readings. Presently the Banking Sector is very weak and will give a lot of opportunities if you are a long term investor.

This video will give you insights into how the CCI should be traded:

Dinesh,

You seem to be reading my mind and me yours. I was going to put up a write up on when to exit stocks. Here are the points to remember:

1). When the 5 day EMA cuts the 25 day EMA from above.

2). When the CCI indicator has touched the 100 mark (red line) from above and is falling.

3). When the RSI has reached overbought levels around 70-80 and begins to fall downwards.

4). The Momentum indicator begins to fall towards the 0 line.

The above are all the short term indicators to watch the trend and momentum of a stock. Here are some examples:

http://chartink.com/stocks/cumminsind.html Link: http://chartink.com/stocks/cumminsind.html

Around 11th May 2013 the stock touched 530 and then gave up all its gains. Watch for all the above indicators and how they performed.

Presently Kaveri Seeds, Asian Paints seem to be doing the same. In Asian Paints the 5 day EMA has not yet breached the 25 day EMA from above.

I do not have any knowledge of William %

HG,

I think this is the first time you wrote to me. Welcome to more queries. You have read the analysis well on NMDC. Nirlon is a stock which i know very well and hence I have been able to time my entry and exit at the right time. I do not know how well you know NMDC.

Please bear in mind when buying or selling a stock to check the following too:

1 Where is the market today.

2). How is the sector performing.

Thereafter, one should go to stock specifics and how it is performing relative to the market and sector.

NMDC is in the metal sector. The Bullish Percent reading is only 36. Due to government regulations, there is a lot of uncertainty. I personally avoid such sectors.

Coming to NMDC. It is currently in the overbought area. Not much gains can be expected here. On the Point and Figure chart the reading is as under:

http://chartink.com/pointfigure/NMDC.html Link: http://chartink.com/pointfigure/NMDC.html

The stock has given a BUY signal and is currently in X column. The next resistance is at 122. The support is at 100. However, this is just a pull back given by the stock. It is a very weak stock, because it has been exhibiting, lower highs and lower bottoms right from December 2012. It is also trading below the Bullish Support Line (blue) . It is not worth doing Bottom fishing. Please avoid this one and try applying the principles to stronger stocks where you can make good money. Preservation of Capital is important.

Mallikarjun,

Nirlon is a stock which i know very well. Made several entries and exits over a period of time. Timing your entry and exit in such stocks is important. I have been lucky with this one. Returns have been good. Example, recently I entered around 40-41 and now sold some at 48. Should touch 51 I believe. Let see what Mr. Market has to say. Once a stock gains momentum, results are sure.

Earlier it happened in Cera, Astral, Accelya. These are just a few examples. I do not trade in stocks, but learned patience which has helped me immensely. Entering strong stocks is way safer than trying to catch a falling knife.

Tony

Tony,

Yes, I think it was my first query to you though I read the thread regularly. Thanks for the comprehensive reply on NMDC.
