While considering earnings impact, try to figure out which type of the company are we talking about. Lynch has given classification of different companies like growth stocks, asset plays, turnarounds, cyclicals etc and has give examples. While looking at any company, try to slot the company according to above classification and then only go ahead to look at earnings.
Try to consider the book in its entirety rather than a chapter or two. And if possible read it 3-4 times and try to imbibe what he has taught.

While searching for asset plays I found a co. named Veritas Ltd.
Current MCap. of co. is 586 Cr and the land that it holds is of 851Cr.
On looking at pros and cons screener shows that the co. has contingent liability of 420Cr . Also co. has trade receiveables of 1649Cr
But it is worth noting that the co. has receive debt in previous quarter
I was unable to find research reports for this co.
Also Note I am a novice and unable to analyse a co. like you and other experienced investors
Also I have heard some investors say that Asset Plays do not work in India as India is a growth country
Can you please share your views that is it a Asset Play Co. or not
