Supply chain for Brahmos missile
As a result of the dynamic and precision strikes from the Brahmos missiles, there are are some dozen of countries like Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman are reportedly lining up to buy the BrahMos missiles.
Notably, the Brahmos missile system- Brahmos Aerospace is a joint collaboration between India and Russia and India’s share in the partnership is 50.5% and Russia’s is 49.5.
So who are the suppliers for Brahmos missile system? whether these ancillaries also deal with other defence equipments ?

Private players finally have a seat at the table – they’re bidding for, and winning, defense contracts in a way that was unheard of a few decades ago. Companies like Larsen & Toubro, Tata Advanced Systems, Mahindra Defence, Bharat Forge, Adani Defence and others are now building everything from parts of fighter planes to artillery guns and naval ships.
In creating this domestic capacity, though, we’ve unlocked a much larger market. Although we’re still the world’s second biggest importer
but things are changing very fast. Atma nirbhar bharat - our defense exports are rising too. Indian-made equipment, like the BrahMos missile, or the Tejas fighter, is finding interest from foreign buyers – a point of national pride as well as business opportunity.
However , can we be the net exporter from being a net importer ?

Given that the US continues to supply weapons to Pakistan, just as Russia does to China, India has no option but to pursue Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) initiative to catch up in military-tech advancements. Geopolitics will always remain volatile, and the need of the hour is a proven and trusted supply chain.
Given India’s hostile neighbourhood and the looming threat of terrorism, the country cannot afford complacency in defence preparedness. The armed forces must remain combat-ready, and cannot be expected to wait indefinitely for the public sector to conceptualize, test, and induct key systems.

While the defence shipping companies have overflowing order book, gradually they are diversifying in to commercial shipping and non-defence shipping segments - and GRSE is having the first mover’s advantage.
